burnout is very real.
it has always been real, and will always remain real.
burnout isn’t when a person loses all inspiration, that’s just an aspect of it.
burnout is when a person is tired.
burnout is when a person is so tired, but they don’t want to be because they can’t.
burnout is when the world is far from resting and your shoulders, but that's what it feels like. it feels like, no matter what you do, something is wrong, or something isn’t enough. it feels like you’re constantly forgetting something, missing something, overthinking something, underthinking something.
it feels like a steel ball chained to your leg that you have to drag around everywhere while hiding it from everyone.
burnout is when you can’t do anything about it because you just can't.
burnout is when you dread doing what you love. and when you dread doing what you hate. and when you dread doing what you don't care about because at that point why care at all.
burnout is when you can see the light at the end of the tunnel but you’re too tired to get up.
because burnout is when you’re tired.
burnout can happen to anyone.
burnout can’t be predicted. you can’t prepare for it.
burnout doesn’t have to be because of work. it can be because of life. because of everyday things that just aren’t going right. things that could’ve been better.
burnout can be because every day your coffee is too bitter or sweet. because you start every day waking up five minutes late. because your days end after midnight passes. because your friends text back just an hour or two too late. because your family stops using your nickname. because the little things that could make your life just a little bright aren’t there.
because you are just so tired.
but when you are tired, you search for the people who aren’t.
you search for the people who aren't tired because they understand.
and when you finally see that light at the of the tunnel again,
this time?
you get up, and you walk, and you run, and you sprint.
because burnout happens when you're tired,
it is when you're taking the break that you have needed for so long.
burnout is not when you give up.
it is when you gather your energy,
to be you again.

if you are suffering from burnout. remember that you are not alone. so many people come home every day feeling tired, but not being able to do anything about it. everyone needs a break. everyone needs a chance to put their life on pause and do the things that make them feel happy and refreshed. it doesn’t matter what your age is, what your education is, what your occupation is, where you come from, what your gender identity is, nothing matters.
because everyone is human. and burnout is such a human feeling that it's impossible to put it into words. burnout is different for everyone.
understanding when you are burnt out is important. understanding your emotions and situations can help you slowly reconstruct your life to be healthier, better, and happier. something as simple as self-care practices, like affirmations or “mental health breaks,” can always boost a person's mood. try to find a way to step away from technology and take a nap. there are so many things a person can do, but it's about willpower. and if you aren't feeling strong enough? it is not your fault. the key thing is to find support systems. and never, never be afraid to ask for help. whether it be directly or not.
